31 OCTOBER 2025 (TORONTO, ON) — Multi-platinum, BRIT Award-winning, and GRAMMY®-nominated global pop visionary MIKA returns with his highly anticipated new single “Modern Times,” listen HERE via Republic Records. Opening with five overlaid piano parts “like the turning cogs of a mechanical machine that beats the rhythm of a heartbeat,” MIKA’s “Modern Times” builds from intimate reflection into a soaring anthem. Equal parts resistance and release, the song captures the tension between the chaos of the modern world and the eternal search for something more poetic, more human, and more free. Produced by MIKA and Nick Littlemore (of Empire of the Sun), with additional production by Peter Mayes (of PNAU), “Modern Times” was written entirely by MIKA.
MIKA explains, “The song for me is like a treadmill, and that treadmill is life, life in all its good and all its bad. As time goes on and life gets more confusing and sometimes overwhelming, we look further than the world around us, into the world of mythology, desire and dreams. ‘Modern Times’ is a cathedral-like cry, for faith and spirit, resisting the grind and weight of life and the passing of time.”
Fans can expect more new music soon, as MIKA prepares to unveil his next full-length studio album, a vibrant and emotional collection that continues his lifelong mission to blend theatricality, honesty, and melody in equal measure.
“Modern Times” follows MIKA’s recent creative endeavors - from co-hosting Italy’s David Di Donatello Awards and mentoring on La Voz Spain, La Voix France, X Factor Italy, and the UK’s hit show The Piano, to performing across the globe and receiving the Nordoff & Robbins Global Impact Award in London earlier this year. His last full length release was his first French-language album, Que ta tête fleurisse toujours, which debuted in the Top 5 in France and went Gold, proving once again MIKA’s rare power to transcend language and genre.
