GREGORY PORTER SHARES A ‘THANK YOU’ TO HIS FANS, FRIENDS & FAMILY WITH UPLIFTING NEW SINGLE

NEW ALBUM, ALL RISE, SET FOR RELEASE ON AUGUST 28

10 APRIL 2020 (TORONTO, ON) - Grammy award-winning singing sensation Gregory Porter shares his heart-warming new single, "Thank You", out today on Decca Records/Blue Note/Universal Music Canada, the country's leading music company. Gregory has dedicated the song to everyone who has helped and supported him along the way, and to his fans – old and new – who continue to find happiness in his music.

Gregory says, “My new song ‘Thank You’ has a very special meaning. I wrote it about you, my fans – thanking you for coming to my shows, for listening to my music and supporting me through the years. I also wrote it to say thank you to all the people who have helped me on this journey, I am grateful to you for your inspiration and encouragement. But in this difficult time, I wanted to also thank all those who are working on the frontlines, those who are looking out for us. This song is about the roots of our faith that we can lean on to bring us through this dark valley. It is for family, for friends, for everyone. This song is for you.”

Undeniably one of the most-loved voices of our generation, the uplifting new track showcases Gregory’s irresistibly warming vocals at their best. Set to an upbeat mix of jazz, soul, blues, and gospel, plus Gregory’s signature handclaps, the track evokes a true sense joy and splendour and is guaranteed to become an instant fan favourite.

"Thank You" is the closing track from Gregory’s upcoming new album, All Rise, out on August 28 via Decca Records/Blue Note/Universal Music Canada. Produced by Troy Miller (Calvin Harris, Rag'n'Bone Man, Amy Winehouse) the album features his longtime loyal bandmates, a handpicked horn section, a 10-member choir, and the London Symphony Orchestra Strings.

All Rise sees Gregory return to his beloved original songwriting and represents the evolution of his art into something even more emphatic, emotive, intimate, and universal too. "Thank You"is just one of many moments on the album which highlights his revered heart-on-sleeve lyrics imbued with everyday philosophy and real-life detail.

Since his world-beating 2013 Blue Note debut, Liquid Spirit, which won the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album, Gregory hasn't let down his legion of fans, whether collaborating with Disclosure on Holding On, releasing his dance hit "Liquid Spirit – Claptone Remix" which became one of the most popular tracks in Ibiza, scoring another Grammy forTake Me to the Alley’ (2016), or telling his life story through Cole's songbook on his 2017 album Nat King Cole & Me, Gregory is still surprised by his runaway success, but he has a theory: "I was soothed by my voice as a child and I think that's the same thing others get from it. I'm trying to heal myself with these songs."

Gregory has made chart history by bringing jazz back to the masses. Once again, he manages to cut through the noise of genres and the mess of life by bringing his soulful voice and uplifting, exuberant personality to everyone and everything in a time when it’s truly needed.
