TWO TORONTO SHOWS SELL OUT FOR CANADIAN CONCERT DEBUT
06 MARCH 2018 (Toronto, ON)— Buzz worthy Michigan rock band, Greta Van Fleet, were asked personally by Elton John to perform at his annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party held in a tent in The City of West Hollywood Park on Oscar Sunday. When introducing the band John remarked, “They're going to be one of the biggest new bands of the year. They have an amazing future ahead of them, and I'm so thrilled -- I'm so thankful to have them come onstage and play for you." The band held nothing back when performing in front of the star-studded guest list including Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones to Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth.
Greta Van Fleet are making history in Canada, with their second single “Safari Song” maintaining the #1 position at Canadian Rock radio for an unprecedented 11 consecutive weeks and counting. This follows the success of band’s debut single “Highway Tune", which set the record for most weeks at #1 for a debut single at rock radio. Greta Van Fleet is the first act to achieve 9 or more weeks at #1 with their first 2 singles in the Mediabase Canada era at either Canadian Rock and Canadian Active Rock.
After a year of touring with sold-out shows around the world, Greta Van Fleet announced a number of headline dates for their 2018 North American tour, including the band’s debut Canadian concerts. Last week, their show at Toronto’s REBEL Nightclub sold out less than an hour after it was announced so the band added a second show, which sold out in 20 minutes. Since the band burst on-to the scene with “Highway Tune” last year, Greta Van Fleet have been one of the most-buzzed about rock bands on the scene today; recently named
“Emerging Artists” on Billboard and with notable mentions from Rolling Stone, Variety, Alternative Press and more. Back in November, Greta Van Fleet released their double EP From The Fires through Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company, which debuted at #1 on rock charts and has remained in the Top 10 overall album charts since.
Greta Van Fleet is four young musicians, brothers Josh (vocals), Jake (guitar) and Sam (bass/keys) Kiszka, and best friend Danny Wagner (drums). They’re all from the tiny Michigan hamlet of Frankenmuth known for its family-style chicken dinners and the world’s largest Christmas store. All four were raised on their parents’ extensive vinyl collections (shared influences are Muddy Waters, Lightnin’ Hopkins, The Who, Jimi Hendrix), and were encouraged to be creative, daring and innovative. Each band member has killer musical chops and Josh has a voice that is simply jaw dropping.
