INDIE-POP DARLINGS, VALLEY, SHARE THEIR LATEST TRACK “PUSH FOR YELLOW (SHELTER)”

28 SEPTEMBER 2018 (TORONTO, ON) – Today, alternative pop foursome, VALLEY, are excited to share their anthemic new track, “Push For Yellow (Shelter)” with Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. This song is a follow up from the band’s debut release with Universal, “Closer To The Picture”, which was well received by the indie music scene, garnering features with The 405, Bizzarre, Idobi Radio and many more. “Push For Yellow (Shelter)” rings as a declaration, inviting listeners to embrace feelings of uncertainty, knowing they’re not alone in their search for security or “shelter”. Listen to the track here.
On the track, Karah (drums) illuminates, "When you have a baby and you don’t know whether it’s a girl or a boy, you choose yellow wall paper, and yellow clothes for them as it represents neutrality, the “in-between”. Yellow traffic lights are a grey area, stuck between two definite colours red and green, do you stop or do you go? To us, yellow is a symbol of uncertainty, we see our generation in the colour yellow. Our generation is the generation of “maybe”. And MAYBE, that feeling of uncertainty, discontent and hesitation, goes for all generations in their 20-somethings, we all feel it at some point when we’re growing up."
Lead singer, Rob adds, “’Push for Yellow(Shelter)’ has been somewhat of a record word piece that we’ve repeatedly reminded ourselves of throughout the creative process. As much as this song talks about the want to escape from what you’re dealing with, it also touches upon the feeling of being stuck in the in-between, the feeling of not having the control to slow down-yet everything around you is constant noise to speed up. Sonically this song also means a lot to us. We sampled a lot of sounds we have collected throughout the past two years of travel, which are spaced throughout the rest of the album.”
VALLEY, comprised of Rob (vocals), Mike (guitar), Alex (bass), and Karah (drums) met when a recording studio double-booked their sessions and encouraged them to try playing together. The born-and-raised Canadians seized the opportunity in disguise and began developing what would ultimately become one of the most refreshing and engaging new bands of the decade. VALLEY wrote and self-produced the acclaimed 2016 EP This Room Is White, amassing over 10 million streams, as well as garnering radio and TV placements for indie pop hit “Swim”.
The band has been bringing their music to life, playing campuses across Ontario ad connecting their lyrics to their peers. Stay tuned to the band’s website for additional announcements of opportunities to see VALLEY perform, a live set that is sure to leave fans singing, dancing and wanting more.
