JADE BIRD PREMIERES NEW SONG “FURIOUS”

TORONTO DATE CONFIRMED FOR OCTOBER

25 May 2018 (Toronto, ON) - “Furious,” the new song from rising singer/songwriter Jade Bird, is out today. Listen/share HERE. The track follows Jade’s breakout single, “Lottery,” which recently spent three weeks at #1 on Triple A Radio—the first new artist to reach the top of the Triple A chart in 2018. Jade also recently performed “Lottery” on Later …with Jools Holland and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

“Lottery” as well as her debut EP Something American are out now on Glassnote Records / Universal Music Canada, the country's leading music company.  The EP continues to receive widespread critical acclaim:

“With multifaceted potential, there’s no telling where this Bird will land.”—NPR Morning Edition

“…an English songwriter with a country-rock streak and a furious rasp when she gets riled…”—The New York Times

“…her outlaw spirit, fiery riffs and ready-to-roar vocals illustrated everyday gender dynamics…”—Los Angeles Times

“…on paper there is no way to describe the power that is Jade Elizabeth Bird’s voice.”— Brooklyn Vegan

Jade will kick off her first official headlining tour this fall, including performances at Bumbershoot, Grandoozy and Pilgrimage. The new dates will follow a summer of extensive touring with Colter Wall, Anderson East and First Aid Kit as well as appearances at Stagecoach, Bonnaroo, Firefly and Mountain Jam. She has also been confirmed to play The Horseshoe Tavern on October 2.

Born in Hexham, U.K., Jade’s early life was spent mainly in flight as an “army brat.” One of life’s few constants proved to be the influence of strong working women. At first via her mother and grandmother, who largely raised her, but later the female role models within the musical subcultures Jade become obsessed with: from empowering country heroines like Loretta Lynn to iconic alternative songwriters like Patti Smith; Alanis Morisette’s Jagged Little Pill was a similar early touchstone. Jade recently spoke with Noisey about the influence of these and other women on her music.
