4 AUGUST 2017 (TORONTO, ON) – Today, Jake Bugg announces the release of his stunning new album Hearts That Strain on September 1 via Virgin EMI/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. Available now for pre-order, the first taste of the album arrives today in the brand new breezy collaboration single with Dan Auerbach, “How Soon The Dawn”, along with the accompanying music video.

Working with Grammy Award winning producers David Ferguson and Matt Sweeney, Jake recorded Hearts That Strain in Nashville with some of the best players in popular music history.  As part of American Sound Studio’s legendary house band The Memphis Boys, Gene Chrisman and Bobby Woods provided the chops on such pivotal records as Dusty In Memphis, In The Ghetto, Suspicious Minds and Dark End Of The Street, cutting their teeth in sessions with Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick.

“They’re old guys but they’re amazing,” says Jake. “It was ten to five and then that’s it. They'd pack up and we’d done two or three tunes. It was a mad vibe being from England and meeting these absolute legends and then cutting some tracks with them.”

In addition to the latest single, “How Soon The Dawn”, Dan Auerbach also plays on shuffling rockabilly get-down, “I Can Burn Alone” and “In The Event Of My Demise”, while rising star Noah Cyrus (younger sister of Miley) shares the vocals on one of the albums stand out moments, “Waiting”.

As always, Jake’s writing and singing shine on Hearts That Strain. There’s a common thread running through all 11 songs, each one a gem waiting to be discovered.  Still only 23-years-old, Jake releases Hearts That Strain as follow up to last year’s critically acclaimed, On My One, and two previously released multiplatinum selling albums including the breakthrough self-titled debut and Shangri La.

To coincide with the album’s release Bugg will perform at the OnBlackheath festival on September 10 in London, followed by an intimate solo acoustic tour across Europe.  Full list of dates and ticket information available online now.
