11 MAY 2018 (Toronto, ON) — Following its release on Monday, three-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated and BRIT Award-winning multiplatinum singer-songwriter James Bay shares the music video for his latest track “Slide” through Republic Records/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. Check out the “Slide” here and the video here.
On “Slide” and its beautiful video Bay said: “Slide was the last song written for the new album and it felt like a natural closer. Although it’s tone is sad and heavy, it’s essentially about connection - a theme which, with hindsight, this album is really hinged on - and hope, despite the fact it doesn’t always work out. I guess it goes back to the nature of why I love songwriting - because a song promises the possibility of connection with other people - so we chase those flashes of creativity even when they sometimes lead us astray.”
The outro to the song and video feature a reading of one of Bay’s favorite Allen Ginsberg’s poems: “Song” which begins with “…the weight of the world is love” and is read by musician David Ryan Harris who Bay brought on tour this spring.
“Slide” was featured as a World Record by Apple Music/Beats1 with Zane Lowe and proceeds the arrival of his anxiously awaited second full-length, Electric Light finally available everywhere next Friday, May 18. Pre-order HERE to receive instant grat downloads of “Slide” and the previously released hits “Us”, “Pink Lemonade”, and “Wild Love.”
In addition to new music, Bay will be making his return to The Ellen DeGeneres Show on May 16. Be sure to tune in!
As a way to give back to his fans and fellow artists, Bay just teamed up with Spotify for a special fan event in honor of the new music entitled, #ElectricLightVisualized. Fans can submit their own artwork inspired by the new album and top submissions will be displayed at a private gallery in Los Angeles on May 11. Meanwhile, one winning submission will be turned into a new merch item to be sold on his upcoming fall tour with proceeds benefiting the VH1 Save The Music Foundation. Fans can submit here.

He is in good company as openers on other dates include Liam Gallagher, Florence and the Machine, Elbow, The Vaccines and more. In addition, Bay will be featured on blues legend Buddy Guy’s upcoming album The Blues Is Alive And Well on the new song “Blue No More”.
