17 AUGUST 2018 (TORONTO, ON) – Today the incredible multi-talented artist James Hersey releases his highly anticipated new single “Real For You”, out now via Glassnote Records/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. James also shares with us an intimate live performance of the feel-good track, which was filmed at Baketown Collective in Berlin. The new music follows on from Hersey’s successful debut EP Pages which rapidly made him into an online sensation having garnered millions of streams to date.
Working again with long-time friend and collaborator Narou who produced the track – “Real For You” is a captivating modern classic, its simple melodic guitar based production is enhanced by James’ impeccable vocal and emotive lyrics; a sound and style that’s instantly recognizable.
On the track, Hersey explains, “’Real For You’ is about accepting without judgment, and opening up without fear. It’s my anthem for a conscious life, by committing to what you admire and believe in. Being loyal to yourself and those around you is the first step. Having the courage to vocalize it is the next.”
James Hersey’s catalogue to date has impressively racked up over 350M streams on Spotify alone. Released last year, the lead single from his debut EP, Miss You gained Hersey over 135M streams and support from the likes of Radio 1 DJs Annie Mac (who named James one of her ‘New Names’), Mistajam, Adele Roberts, Cel Spellman, and Maz Tappuni (Communion). James also received accolades from top tastemaker publications including Wonderland, CLASH, DIY, EARMILK, Red Bull, and tmrw Mag amongst others. For many, “Coming Over” is the track that launched Hersey’s international recognition after dance heavyweights Filous, Kygo and Dillion Francis reworked the track. Filous’ remix of “Coming Over” now has over 50M Spotify streams. James performed at British Summer Time last year, and has previously supported Sigrid and LANY in the UK and Scandinavia, as well as Milky Chance and HONNE on their European tours. He will reunite with both of these artists on Saturday 18th August at Zitadelle Spandau, for their celebration “Milky Chance and Friends”, where James will also premiere the new single. Based in Berlin, the Vienna born singer, songwriter, musician and producer is ready to raise the bar even higher with more new music dropping this year, leading to his long-awaited follow up EP.
