Johnny Clegg: King Of Time to be Released October 27

Currently on Final Journey Tour, Includes Three Canadian Dates October 17-19

13 OCTOBER 2017 (Toronto, ON) - Singer, songwriter, dancer, anthropologist, and musical activist Johnny Clegg today releases brand new single, King Of Time - the title track from his forthcoming album, to be released October 27 via Universal Music Canada, the country's leading music company.

The seven-track album is comprised of brand new original music from Johnny Clegg, one of South Africa’s most celebrated sons, whose infectious crossover music has broken all the barriers in his own country and the rest of the world. Recorded over five months at Johannesburg's B# Studios with renowned producers Denholm Harding and John Paul De Stefani, the album has a strong hybrid pop feel complete with Clegg's signature sensibilities. “This album was a chance for me to mix new music genres and add an African flavour to it,” says Johnny Clegg.

Diagnosed with cancer in 2015, Clegg underwent chemotherapy but continued to tour locally and internationally throughout treatment, undertaking a nine-week tour of USA and Canada in 2016. He now issues King Of Time and accompanies the album with a series of farewell concerts, titled The Final Journey tour, which includes Canadian dates in Quebec City, Toronto, and Montreal.

Johnny Clegg has an unparalleled repertoire of songs which began with the release of Juluka’s Universal Men in 1979 and continued through the Savuka years, with his full body of work all falling under one label. The brand-new album King Of Time includes songs which will be performed on The Final Journey Tour such as Colour of My Skin, which has backing vocal support by Angelique Kidjo, and I’ve Been Looking, performed and co-written with son Jesse Clegg.
