13 OCTOBER 2015 (TORONTO, ON) - Multiple Juno Award Winner Kardinal Offishall has set October 30 for the release of his fifth full-length album, KARDI GRAS Vol. 1: The Clash (the first instalment of a 3 part series). Co-produced by Kardinal himself, KARDI GRAS Vol. 1: The Clash will be available at all physical, digital and streaming partners via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company.

KARDI GRAS Vol. 1: The Clash, the first in a series of three releases, was inspired by Kardinal’s worldly travels to Africa, Jamaica, Europe, Asia, U.S. and beyond and features new collaborations with top-notch artists and producers.

“Recording the track ‘One Dream Away’ with Stephen Marley was truly a dream for me,” Kardinal reflects.  “I've loved the Marley family my whole life and along with Damian, Stephen has grown to be one of my favourite artists of all time. Recording in his Miami home for a few days was EPIC. He shared stories of his father and his life in music that will stick with me forever.”

KARDI GRAS Vol. 1: The Clash also features the track “Hope”. Internationally acclaimed composer/producer, Stephan Moccio (The Weeknd, Miley Cyrus and Celine Dion) shared this piece of music with Kardinal which in turn, inspired him to craft this multi-layered, inspirational song.

The track “Insert Here” is one that Kardinal wrote and produced last spring as an immediate, heartfelt reaction to the tragic news stories involving police shootings across North America. Kardinal explains, “When the killings of several black people by police garnered front page attention across the globe, I wrote ‘Insert Here’ in 20 minutes and did not even put pen to paper. I just sang what I felt.”

The single “Baby It’s U” features a track produced by Kardinal and video true to his fun-loving, party-boy form and gives devoted fans a taste of what they know and love from this dynamic performer.

Kardinal Offishall is a four-time Juno Award winner. He has received four Much Music Video Awards and is a multiple ASCAP Award and SOCAN Award winner. Outside of music, Kardinal is a dedicated philanthropist and a Free The Children Ambassador (2011-Present), lending his voice to We Days across Canada as a co-host. His track “We Turn It Up” is the official We Dance song. This past summer, Kardinal raised money for 10 youths to visit Free The Children-partnered communities in Kenya to help build a school. While in Kenya, Kardinal filmed the video for "One Dream Away" and upon release of the track and video, he will personally donate the proceeds to the charity. In 2013, Kardinal joined Universal Music Canada as Creative Executive Director of A&R.
