KESHIA CHANTÉ UNLEASHES EDGIER, SULTRY SOUND ON FIRST STUDIO ALBUM IN SIX YEARS, UNBOUND O2, OUT MARCH 23

13 MARCH 2018 (Toronto, ON) – Canada’s very own R&B/POP songstress Keshia Chanté is an artistic force to be reckoned with, and her bold new look and attitude are just a few of the reasons why. Today, Chanté announces UNBOUND 02, the follow up release to the newly Juno nominated EP, UNBOUND 01, which features the critically-acclaimed single “F**k It Tho” – produced by Matthew Burnett (Daniel Caesar, Drake), Tayla Parx (Fifth Harmony, Alicia Keys, Chris Brown) and xSDTRK (Usher, Jessie J). Set to arrive on March 23  via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company, UNBOUND 02 marks Chanté’s first studio album in six years.

“Maturity and self-awareness provide an honest perspective to write songs from,” says Chanté. “With so much going on in our world, it’s important for me to create music that feels good, that’s real, that’s relatable and that I’m ultimately proud of.”

The UNBOUND project is more than a collection of 10 songs, it’s an unfiltered reflection of the gritty and gratifying moments in life and love; and thriving in spite of heartbreak and disappointment. From mid-tempo testimonies like “Bittersweet” to catchy, melodic tracks like “Rotation” and “Lights Out,” and the soul-baring anthems “Nothing New” and “Freedom,” Chante’s ability to peel back the layers of relationships, with ourselves and others, and stand in the complicated truth of what it means to be human is unmistakable.

“To be unbound is to be free of confinements and this project mirrors where I am in my personal life. The greatest part of being an artist is turning your story into songs that speak your truth, while helping people through similar experiences. No pain goes in vain as a creative,” added Chanté.

Taking risks is nothing new for this multi-talented trailblazer who has owned the spotlight since she was 14, racking up countless accolades including eight Top 10 singles, like “Shook (The Answer)”, “Unpredictable,” and “Bad Boy” - which shot to the top of the Billboard chart, a Juno Award for “R&B/Soul Recording Of The Year,” and sold-out performances across Canada and in Japan. Keshia Chanté has also conquered television, serving as a judge on the music competition series The Next Star, a celebrity chef on Chopped Canada, and most notably co-hosting BET’s iconic show 106 & Park with Bow Wow, an opportunity that led to many life-changing experiences including meeting then First Lady Michelle Obama and visiting The White House.
