Releases Music Video and New Song, “Wolves Still Cry”

28 July 2017 (Toronto, ON) - Los Angeles songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist/artist Lawrence Rothman has announced his debut album, The Book of Law, due out October 13th via Downtown/Interscope Records/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The album, co-produced by Justin Raisen (Angel Olsen, Charli XCX, Kim Gordon), Lawrence Rothman, and YVES, boasts collaborations with an array of unique artists including Angel Olsen, How To Dress Well, and Marissa Nadler.

Two years in the making, the dark and triumphant album is a deeply personal body of work about struggle and self-discovery. The project embodies the nine physical and emotional alternate personalities of Rothman. In each self-directed video, a different alter is portrayed with creative direction supplied by the revered Floria Sigismondi (David Bowie, Björk, Marilyn Manson, Justin Timberlake). The first song off the album, “Wolves Still Cry”, begins the journey through Lawrence’s alternate personalities and features background vocals by How To Dress Well. Watch the video HERE.

Though Rothman played many of the instruments himself on the album, contributions were made by Dennis Hamm (Thundercat, Flying Lotus) on piano, Pino Paladino (D’Angelo, NIN, The Who) and Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses) on bass, and Carla Azar (Autolux) and Stella Mozgawa (War Paint) on drums.
