LOCALS ONLY SOUND RELEASE “BILLIONS” FIRST SINGLE OFF THEIR UPCOMING DEBUT EP

 

 

15 June 2018 (Toronto, ON) – Locals Only Sound, the music collective founded by Gray Hawken and Curtis Smith release "Billions" featuring longtime collaborator Blaise Moore today. "Billions" is the first single off the duo’s upcoming EP titled Opus 1, due for release later this summer via 21 Entertainment Group/ Universal Music Canada.  Simultaneously soothing and energetic, the single features brooding, visceral vocals overlain on R&B melodies, establishing Locals Only Sound as an unignorable emerging talent.

Forged over a common interest in music, visual arts and skateboard culture Locals Only Sound is the product of friendship between Hawken and Smith. Active members of the music community in Toronto, the duo has produced for JoJo, Blaise Moore, Ryland James , Gemeliers and R&B legend, Tamia - amongst others - before releasing music as Locals Only Sound. 

 

 

Their collaborative process led to the creation of a Toronto based production company under the same name. Locals Only Sound offers a space for emerging artists to access creative resources and guidance. 

 

“Our EP came together very naturally with us just hanging out as friends. When we started completing these songs and also working with other people, we realized that this could be something bigger than just the two of us hanging and making music. So that’s where the idea for Locals Only Sound came from.”
