19 SEPTEMBER 2025 (TORONTO, ON) — Ivor Novello Rising Star Winner and BRIT Award-nominated South London artist Lola Young releases her highly anticipated album, I’m Only F**king Myself, along with her new single, ‘Post Sex Clarity’.
‘Post Sex Clarity’ is the album’s most tender, dreamy, beautifully affecting moment. Sumptuous and swooning, it then builds and builds towards a sonically cacophonous (and no doubt sexual) climax.
I’m Only F**king Myself is not only a tour de force but a coup de grace, the final farewell to an early 20s misadventure Lola is emerging from, vividly detailed in the most compelling soundscape of her life, both pulverising and poetic, both coarse and clever, both heroically fierce and devastatingly vulnerable. It was primarily written and produced over the first six months of 2025 with Lola’s long-term collaborators Manuka and SOLOMONOPHONIC (Brockhampton, SZA) and recorded at New York’s Electric Lady Studio and Rue Boyer Studios in Paris.
The album begins with an interlude, a eulogy to gratitude for still being alive (a perkily sped-up voice note), before the emotional onslaught grips and engages via the brazenly titled opener ‘F*CK EVERYONE’, an explosion of disorientating dissonance, it’s a scuzz-guitar invitation to sexual opportunity, where all-comers are welcome. Sex is a dominant theme on the album, as the artwork tells us, with Lola entwined with a look-alike blow-up doll. Previous offering ‘One Thing’ continues the sexual theme, showcasing Lola’s provocative gift for spoken word and tremendous vocal ability. The song, which peaked in the Top 20 of the UK Singles Chart upon release, highlights a seemingly romantic appreciation of a lover, which is anything but.
The irresistibly chugging, deceptively upbeat ‘d£aler’ is a compelling narrative, the story of yearning to escape from the prison of addiction. A UK hit single this summer, long-term fan Elton John called it, “the biggest smash I have heard in years”. The album’s masterful centrepiece is Lola’s recent single, ‘Spiders’. It’s a blistering build of a ballad, incorporating 90’s-style grunge production, which intertwines seamlessly with Lola’s raw, unbridled emotion, conveyed through her lyricism and vocal performance, unlocking a deeper level of her artistry.
‘Penny Out Of Nothing’ echoes the angular, spectral atmospherics of early ’80s new wave, while the gorgeous, jangling ‘Walk All Over You’ echoes the sun-hued harmonies of peak-’90s Belly or Throwing Muses. Lola’s playful side appears on the wistfully jazzy ‘SAD SOB STORY!’, while ‘Can We Ignore It!’ is dissonant indie-pop erupting into an enormous howl of existential, post-punk despair. Calm returns in the delicate, country-ish reverie of ‘why do i feel better when i hurt you?’, while she ascends from the abyss in the Strokes-y indiepop of ‘Not Like That Anymore’. I’m Only F**king Myself concludes with the stripped-back acoustic, ‘who f*cking cares?’ and an intimate voice note, ‘ur an absolute c word’.
Lola Young is the recipient of the ‘Rising Star’ accolade at this year’s Ivor Novello Awards, following her ‘Best Pop Act’ nomination at this year’s BRIT Awards. She has since collaborated with Tyler, The Creator (‘Like Him’), and Lil Yachty (‘Charlie’) and continues to make a global impact with her music and compelling personality. Following her debut appearance at Coachella earlier this year, Lola opened for Billie Eilish in Paris during her "Hit Me Hard and Soft" headline tour and completed an exciting UK and European Summer festival run, which included phenomenal appearances at Glastonbury, alongside shows at Lollapalooza Paris, Way Out West, and Lowlands.
Next month, she’ll play her biggest UK headline shows to date, including two nights at Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse, the O2 Academy in Birmingham, and two nights at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, with all dates sold out, before an anticipated return to North America & Europe for headline shows in November and May next year respectively - full dates below.
To celebrate the release of I’m Only F**king Myself, non-gendered luxury streetwear brand Aries, have collaborated with Lola for a limited-edition exclusive capsule collection. The Aries x Lola Young collaboration features her album artwork reimagined through Aries’ signature lens, across graphic T-shirts in two colourways and baby fits, classic boxer shorts with a reversible logo waistband, and Aries’ iconic Temple socks.
Lola Young’s new album is the sonic excavation of a young woman’s inner life. More than ever, she has put it all out there, her blisteringly honest narratives detailing insatiable sex, addiction, toxic relationships and the trap of self-destruction. Lola reflects on her musical evolution on this profoundly affecting album, in all its blistering, dynamic, beautiful and fearless glory - a masterclass in creative dynamism, sophisticated songcraft and singular, relatable candour.
