23 June 2017 (Toronto, ON) —Philly-born alternative renegade and punk-rock troubadour Mondo Cozmo will release his mega-anticipated full-length debut album, Plastic Soul via Republic Records/ Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company, on Friday, August 4.

The pre-order goes live today and unlocks instant downloads of the #1 AAA “Shine,” current single and festival anthem “Automatic,” “Higher” (music video featuring actress Paz de La Huerta), and “Hold On To Me” (music video featuring actress Anna Farris), and for the first time, the album version of title track “Plastic Soul.” See full tracklisting reveal here and below.

On the album title and song Mondo Cozmo noted:

“David Bowie referred to his music as Plastic Soul. I always loved that. I recorded my song 'Plastic Soul' the weekend he passed away. And would later go on to release it for free cause of a sample issue. Based on the response of the song it forced the label to get the sample cleared. It was a huge risk on my part that really paid off. When they asked what I was calling the record I said, "Plastic Soul" and everybody just nodded their head. 

I hope this album speaks to anyone who is scared to start over. Or overwhelmed by what they could be. This album comes from a real place. I needed to find truth and I found it in the songs. It is an honor to present Plastic Soul.” 

The song “Plastic Soul” has become a sought-after gem amongst Mondo enthusiasts after this fall he shared an uncleared version of the song on his Instagram, telling his fans “Due to potential lawsuits we are not permitted to release this song It’s called ‘Plastic Soul,’ was written about David Bowie… If you email my lawyer he will send you a link to get it for free.” The response was exponential, including charting Top 10 on tastemaker radio station KCRW, and the rest is history.

The track album is a dystopic death dream of gospel-size choruses, haunting confessions, grunged-up spirit, wild guitars, keys, and synths. Mondo cut these tracks, while losing his mind in a “shitty Joshua Tree rental house last year” accompanied by only his rescue dog Cozmo (yes he named his band after his dog). His blood, sweat, and tears course through every note. It’s f***ing rock ‘n’ roll with middle fingers up and life on the line, and it sure sounds like it…

It’s no surprise that he’s become the darling of the summer festival circuit. Mondo Cozmo tore up The Governors Ball, Bonnaroo, Shaky Knees, Boston Calling, and Hangout Music Festival, burned down the house opening for Bastille in arenas, performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and had Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons jump on stage with him. Simultaneously, he has drawn acclaim from the likes of The New York Times, Consequence of Sound, Crave, Billboard, NPR, Entertainment Weekly, The Boston Globe, NME, QRO, AXS, and crowds across the country. He is set to open up for July Talk and the Arkells on Saturday at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto
