MOTHER MOTHER UNVEIL NEW TRACK “THE DRUGS”

04 NOVEMBER 2016 (Toronto, ON) – Vancouver-based rockers, Mother Mother, have announced their return with today’s release of “The Drugs,” the lead single from their upcoming album which will be released early 2017 via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The video for “The Drugs” premiered with the popular music blog, AMBY, today. The track, produced by Brian Howes, Jason “JVP” Van Poederooyen and lead-man Ryan Guldemond, was recorded in Vancouver – and it grabs listeners immediately with its pounding rhythms and haunting melodies – an innovative twist on the band’s signature sound. Coupled with lyrics that cut straight to the point - “Cuz you’re hotter than the sun/ And you’re better than the drugs I used to love” the song communicates the complex and manic nature of love. “It comes off as an address to a lover, deeming her the ultimate high and antidepressant,” states frontman Ryan Guldemond. “but the metaphors are interchangeable. The girl represents higher truth, and the drugs, well, they could be just about anything that stands in between a person and their authentic self.” With multiple JUNO and MMVA nods and sold out tour dates across Canada and the U.S. under their belt – Mother Mother owned 2014 with their hit singles “Get Out The Way”, “Monkey Tree” and “Modern Love” from their critically-lauded record Very Good Bad Thing.
