20 FEBRUARY 2026 (TORONTO, ON) — Today, multi-platinum UK singer-songwriter Calum Scott unites with English rap sensation Aitch for a reimagined version of “Unsteady,” a romantic ode to accepting imperfection originally found on Calum’s 2025 album Avenoir. Listen to the new collaboration HERE via Capitol Records and watch the accompanying music video HERE. Meanwhile, the globe-trotting Avenoir Tour touches down in North America next month — find those dates below, and the full itinerary HERE.
The “Unsteady” team-up infuses the slowly blooming track with extra punch while doubling down on the hopeful message. “I’m a little unsteady, a little messed up, a little bit petty,” Calum admits before he delivers the twist: “But... I’ve found a place to go, and I’m standing all alone with you / ’Cause you’re unsteady, too.” Aitch picks up the theme, delivering a heartfelt dedication: “Even better than expected from the second we connected / Yeah, I might be a little crazy, but you’re the only one that gets it.” The video, directed by Ben Morgan, fittingly films the two artists in a way that exposes the studio’s seams and edges, interspersed with shots of couples from all walks of life sharing cozy, loving moments.
Calum recently shared a video tracing the new song’s serendipitous lineage (watch HERE), and the backstory is just as heart-warming. “Our collaboration came about so organically,” says Calum. “I saw a post of Aitch’s sister, Gracie, singing ‘You Are the Reason’ and sent a thank you video to Aitch to pass on and she was buzzing with it! Aitch and I started chatting and we said we should collab so we got in a studio. I showed him ‘Unsteady’ before it was released and he was like ‘give me an hour’. Aitch is a great guy with an amazing talent who has brought a completely new dynamic to the song whilst keeping the message sincere. More than that, he’s northern, and that’s what makes this collab special!”
“Loved working with Calum, he’s a top guy,” says Aitch.
The new single arrives the day after Calum wrapped the Asian leg of his headlining Avenoir Tour, following a lengthy string of dates in the UK, Europe, and South Africa. On March 23, he launches the North America leg in Vancouver, BC, before continuing on to such hallowed venues as The Wiltern in Los Angeles, Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater, and New York City’s Terminal 5. From there, he heads back across the pond to helm a pair of English arena shows before venturing back into Europe.
All of this activity, of course, follows the October release of Avenoir, Calum’s third album. The 14-song set showcases his evolution as both a vocalist and songwriter, sporting an ambitious sonic palette that balances his signature soul-stirring ballads (singles “Die For You” and “God Knows”) with groove-heavy anthems like “At Your Worst” and “Roots.”
The album also features “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” – a stunning duet version alongside the late and legendary Whitney Houston of her iconic hit that pairs Calum’s vocals with Houston’s, marking the first time her original stems have been used in this way. Recorded with the endorsement of The Estate of Whitney E. Houston, the new rendition transforms the dance-pop classic into a symphonic duet that subtly magnifies the song’s mood of heavy-hearted longing. Watch the official video, which features archival imagery of Whitney, HERE. The release comes as fans around the world celebrate the 40th anniversary of Whitney’s historic career in music and entertainment, which began with her 1985 self-titled debut album, which is now one of her three certified RIAA Diamond albums in the U.S. Calum performed the duet to an audience of millions at the 100th anniversary of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, while the new version garnered widespread praise from the Associated Press, People and more.
Avenoir borrows its title from John Koenig’s book of neologisms, The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, which defines the invented word as “the desire that memory could flow backward.” As Calum previously explained, “‘Avenoir’ refers to how we move through life like a rower moves: always moving forward but facing backward, seeing where we’ve been but not where we’re going. The songs on this album speak to both regret and sorrow, and to undying love — a plea to live life to its fullest.” Fittingly, Avenoir reveals Calum’s newfound freedom and growing certainty as an artist as he works alongside his longtime collaborator Jon “MAGS” Maguire and London production duo The Nocturns, among others.
To date, Calum’s music has amassed over 10 billion streams worldwide. His RIAA Gold-certified 2018 debut album, Only Human, featured his 6x Platinum smash “You Are the Reason,” which has 1.3 billion YouTube views on the music video alone, and his 5x Platinum cover of Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own,” which earned a BRIT Award nomination in the category of Best British Single. The hits continued with his acclaimed sophomore album Bridges and a series of high-profile collaborations including “Where Are You Now” (a Gold-certified team-up with Lost Frequencies that earned a 2023 BRIT Award Nomination for Best International Song), and ”Whistle,” his Gold-certified collaboration with Jax Jones.
With his powerful voice and lyrics Calum creates the kind of deeply resonant songs that are primed to become the soundtrack to our lives’ most meaningful moments. From weddings to end-of-life rituals, fans have turned to his music to score major milestones and for solace in times of loss. His moving television performances have included Late Night with Seth Meyers, Good Morning America, LIVE with Kelly and Ryan, Dancing with the Stars, and TODAY among others, while his songs have appeared on countless TV shows over the years (“American Idol,” “The Voice,” and many more). In addition, Calum has garnered acclaim from outlets including Billboard, who praised his “stunningly pure voice,” The Huffington Post, who stated that “Scott makes an impressive splash… compelling,” and Rolling Stone, who declared that “[Scott] can give any listener chills.”
