North American Tour, Including Six Canadian Dates, Begins Sunday, September 10
07 September 2017 – Today, Nick Murphy releases his second mini documentary with a new video directed by Oscar Zabala. “Nick Murphy: Part 2” continues the narrative of the Chet Faker to Nick Murphy evolution that was first shared with the March release of “Nick Murphy: Part 1”. The second installment of the mini doc series offers insight into the New York-based Australian producer & musician’s creative process, DJ shows, and life on the road. “Nick Murphy: Part 2” features tracks from his recent Missing Link EP including “Fear Less”, an acoustic version of “Your Time” and a haunting, a cappella version of “I’m Ready” that was recorded in a New Orleans carpark during a road trip across the U.S.
The Missing Link EP was released May 9 via Downtown Records/Interscope/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The EP is Murphy’s first release since announcing that he will record and perform under his given name and step away from his Chet Faker moniker. The collection bridges the sonic shift between who he was as an artist and what’s next for him as Nick Murphy. After premiering the song, “Your Time” featuring production from KAYTRANADA, on his Beats 1 show in May, Zane Lowe called the track a “beautiful, beautiful soulful piece of future pop music.”
Both Part 1 and Part 2 of his mini documentaries share glimpses of Murphy’s dynamic live shows. Consequence of Sound recently noted of his live show’s energy, “Murphy spared nothing when it came to visuals and sound. What we heard was deep and resounding, a statement performance to make a new (albeit his actual) name for himself.” Beginning this Sunday, he will hit stages across North America and Europe with a headlining tour that includes six Canadian dates: two shows in each Montréal, Toronto, and Vancouver.
