08 AUGUST 2025 (TORONTO, ON) – Today, globally acclaimed, Canada-based Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Nonso Amadi unleashes the new summer anthem, “PILLOW” via Universal Music Canada with international support from Def Jam Recordings in the US, Polydor Records in the UK, MCA in France and Mavin Records in Africa. The vibrant new single features an upbeat tempo infused with Amadi’s signature Afrobeats sound. The track highlights Amadi’s smooth vocals and laid-back lyrics expertly woven throughout the addictively rhythmic backdrop. Amadi’s multi-dimensional songwriting, producing and musicality skills stand in the forefront leaving fans with no option but to vibe through the music.
On the new single, Amadi notes: "‘PILLOW’ is a song about the longing to share your space — your bed, your comfort — with someone you love. It’s a ‘what could have been’ type of record,” he continues: “Sometimes, even when we give our all to someone, it still isn’t enough to make them stay. This track captures that universal feeling — a quiet ache that lovers around the world know too well.”
The creative process for “PILLOW” all started with the drums which Amadi layered in with the chords that became the emotional backbone of the song. The writing and melody were heavily inspired by Wande Coal — direct in delivery, rich in feeling, and rooted in early 2000s Naija sound.
Amadi adds: “I hope listeners can feel the nostalgia woven into the melodies and connect with that throwback energy.”
“PILLOW” follows the 2024 JUNO nominated (Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year) debut album When It Blooms released in 2023. Since its release, the album has generated over 100+ million streams and garnered critical acclaim from the likes of Billboard, COMPLEX, Teen Vogue, MTV and more.
