18 JULY 2016 (Toronto, ON) – Assembling as a politically-charged response to 2016’s tumultuous U.S. election year, the newly-formed PROPHETS OF RAGE features Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, Chuck D, B-Real and DJ LORD. Best described by Morello as an “elite task force of revolutionary musicians determined to confront this mountain of election year bullshit,” the group combines the sonic firepower of Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy, and Cypress Hill. The band will be releasing their aptly-titled new single today from a forthcoming EP. Prophets of Rage will be available through digital download and streaming services today via Caroline/Universal Music Canada, the country's leading music company, and streaming at the band's website. A re-imagination of the original Public Enemy song of the same name, with new music plus a new, original verse from B-Real, the song gave life to the band’s name. The single was recorded with legendary producer Brendan O’Brien who has done notable work with Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave. Prophets of Rage will perform the single on Jimmy Kimmel Live! airing Monday, July 25. Setting the rock world abuzz with two sold-out shows at The Whisky and The Hollywood Palladium that had thousands of hopeful fans lined up in Los Angeles, and a sold-out show in Brooklyn at Warsaw Ballroom, the band has proven to be social media magnet from the start, setting #MakeAmericaRAGEAgain and #TakeThePowerBack trending virally. In what the LA Times headlined simply as “REVOLUTIONARY,” the band’s mission is clear, promising “No Sleep till Cleveland,” the home of the 2016 Republican National Convention this July, where Prophets of Rage have a planned performance on Tuesday, July 19. Following that, the group will embark on a national North American tour: the MAKE AMERICA RAGE AGAIN TOUR - which includes stops in 25+ U.S. markets, as well as three Canadian cities this August, before concluding in San Diego, CA, mere weeks before 2016 Election Day. A portion of the proceeds from each show will benefit a local homeless charity.
