"Raf-Saperra will make you groove to pure Punjabi Folk no matter where in the world you are." – Vogue India
"Genre-bending rap chameleon." – HUNGER Magazine
"Raf-Saperra is carrying the torch for British Punjabi music." – The Face
11 JULY 2025 (TORONTO, ON) – Following a sold-out world tour across the USA, Canada and UK in late 2024, and recent appearances at Paris Fashion Week with KidSuper and Willy Chavarria, British Punjabi disruptor Raf-Saperra returns with his brand new collaborative five-track EP, Renaissance, entirely produced by global Punjabi hitmaker Ikky, backed by Polydor Records in the UK and Universal Music Canada.
Marking Raf's boldest artistic leap to date, the project is a vibrant and infectious dive into pop music, delivered through his signature Punjabi vocal lens. For an artist known for bending genre rules and elevating underground sounds, Renaissance signals a striking new direction and one that feels like a crossover moment in the making.
The EP comes hot on the heels of recent viral single “Step Out,” which has already surpassed 1M total streams and a monumental 2.7M views on YouTube. The track has also gained widespread attention, with features across COLORS, Wonderland Magazine, Rolling Stone India, Diet Paratha, and more.
Following their earlier collaboration on “Heer,” Raf-Saperra and Ikky reconnected in Toronto to craft this bold new body of work which leans into pop sensibilities while retaining Raf’s signature blend of folk lyricism, catchy melodic hooks and textured electronic production. The project includes a standout feature from renowned Indian Carnatic musician Sid Sriram on the track “Broken,” and launches with the lead single “Ni Billo.”
Raf also made a recent appearance as co-host on the BBC Asian Network Breakfast Show alongside Nikita Kanda, where the track is now averaging three plays a day and has officially been added to the station’s playlist, as well as speaking at Cambridge University with their Punjabi Society, continuing to engage with fans and communities beyond the music.
Rooted in traditional Punjabi singing but equally shaped by Streatham’s rap culture and East Coast hip-hop, Raf-Saperra is one of the most daring and original voices to emerge from London in recent years. His 2023 project Ruff Around The Edges was critically acclaimed as one of the most genre-bending debuts in the British underground, and his 2024 follow-up 5 Deadly Venomz, a hard-hitting Punjabi boom-bap rap project, proved Raf could go bar-for-bar with rap royalty like Conway The Machine, Dave East, and Big Body Bes, all while staying rooted in his cultural identity. Raf has routinely spoken fondly of the Punjabi music scene in Canada and sold out shows across the country. With his new EP, Raf is out to prove something different: that Punjabi music isn’t confined to genre, and neither is he.
The EP is produced by Ikky, one of the most important and influential producers in the global Punjabi music movement. With over 3 billion streams to his name, the Toronto-based super-producer has redefined what Punjabi music can sound and feel like in the modern era. His sonic blueprint has powered crossover anthems for the likes of AP Dhillon, Karan Aujla, Diljit Dosanjh, Shubh, and more, blending rich Punjabi instrumentation with stadium-sized pop and R&B polish.
