For immediate release

“The Reklaws are ready to give their future to music wholeheartedly. They’ve got a newer, more authentic sound on their side.”

Sounds Like Nashville

18 AUGUST 2017 (TORONTO, ON) – Today small-town brother-sister country duo The Reklaws premiere the video for their debut single, “Hometown Kids”, released via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The music video for “Hometown Kids” exclusively premiered August 17 on Sounds Like Nashville in North America. Watch it here.

Directed by MTV Video Music Award, JUNO Award, and Much Music Video Award winning Ben Knechtel (Carly Rae Jepson, Nikki Yanofsky, James Barker Band) the video features siblings Jenna and Stuart Walker who make up The Reklaws exploring the nostalgic staples of their hometown. The pair created the treatment with Knechtel, complete with 40 of their closest friends at a house party – showing the adventurous candidness that The Reklaws embody in everything they do. Hometown Kids was written by Jenna and Stuart Walker, Travis Wood and Gavin Slate. Derived from personal experiences, the pair looked upon their own childhood and the aspects of small-town living that have resulted in them becoming and valuing who they are today.

The Reklaws are taking this summer by a storm with the release of their anthemic lead single “Hometown Kids”, and a major label debut with Universal Music Canada. The pair kicked off their careers and brought the name “The Reklaws” into country music in 2012, where they won the CCMA Discovery Program followed by the 2013 Boots & Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase title.  After relentless days in Nashville writing rooms for the past three years, they’ve emerged with an infectiously authentic sound that is “soundtrack-to-your-summer” kind of material.  With more music coming very soon, The Reklaws are sure to take the country music world by a storm.
