13 July 2018 (Toronto, ON) - Highly-acclaimed soprano Aida Garifullina will return to the world stage once again this Sunday for the FIFA World Cup Closing Ceremony. She’s set to wow the expected three billion viewers across the globe with a rendition of the Russian song “Kalinka”.

Garifullina previously performed at the FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony alongside Robbie Williams with a duet of his hit “Angels” and an operatic version of “Feel”. Following exceptional worldwide reception, she has been asked to return to the stage in Moscow.

From an early age, Aida Garifullina was surrounded by music. Born in 1987 in Kazan, her choirmaster mother gave her her first singing lesson, influencing her musical development from early childhood and inspiring her to pursue opera. She rose to fame in 2013 when she won Plácido Domingo’s prestigious Operalia competition. Since then, she has gone on to perform in opera houses and concert halls around the world – she has even appeared alongside Meryl Streep in Stephen Frears’ film Florence Foster Jenkins.

Aida Garifullina has duetted with some of opera’s greatest stars including Plácido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli and Rolando Villazón. Last year, she released her debut Decca album and most recently, a digital EP Midnight in Moscow last month via Decca/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company.
