(TORONTO – 15 July, 2013) – Critically acclaimed chart-topper, Serena Ryder has earned her first career Platinum Certification for her November 2012 release, Harmony (Serenadar Source / Universal Music Canada).  The album’s incredible success is testament to the meteoric rise of her first two singles -  “Stompa” & “What I Wouldn’t Do” on the SoundScan and radio charts. To cap an already fantastic week, Ryder will make her late-night American talk show debut on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno this Wednesday (July 17) and release her latest iTunes Session, available for pre-order. In just a few short months, Harmony shot to Gold Certification (Feb 2013) and five months later, sales have doubled and Ryder is celebrating her first ever Platinum album. Produced by Emmy/Grammy nominated producer / songwriter / musician Jerrod Bettis (Gavin Degraw, Better Than Ezra) and producer / songwriter / musician Jon Levine (K’naan, Nelly Furtado), Harmony is poised to continue to break new ground in 2013 and beyond. Harmony’s success is due mainly in part to the beautifully written, anthemic first two singles “Stompa”; now triple platinum and current hit, “What I Wouldn’t Do”; presently Gold certification . Both tracks have proven to be radio hits and just when it seemed the multi-format, chart-topping “Stompa” couldn’t be beat, the second single, “What I Wouldn’t Do” is proving to be a worthy adversary and currently one of the greatest gainers on the Canadian Media Base charts. Good news also travelling south of the border with “Stompa” topping the Triple A radio charts – shooting to #1 and holding there for eight weeks; a U.S. media frenzy capped by a performance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno - her first appearance on American late night television this Wednesday night; a headline tour in August and Harmony set for release in the Fall. Ryder is currently featured in this month’s Interview Magazine and has been highly acclaimed in many recent U.S. publications: “…I present a new song of summer, “Stompa” by this week’s featured artist, Serena Ryder. If you haven’t heard it on the radio yet, you will.”

- The New York Times, May 2013

"Stompa," Canadian singer/songwriter Serena Ryder's muscular pop-rock single and lead track from her forthcoming album "Harmony," spends its sixth consecutive week at No. 1 on Billboard's Triple A chart.”

- Billboard Magazine, June 2013

Earlier this year, Ryder recorded her second exclusive iTunes Session which is currently available for pre-order. Ryder is an artist adored by fans, peers and critics alike which is due mainly in part to her immense raw and earnest songwriting talent and beautifully electric live performances. Over the years, she has received numerous accolades including four prestigious Juno Awards that include: 2008 New Artist of The Year, 2009 Adult Alternative Album of The Year (Is It O.K.), 2010 Video of The Year (Little Bit of Red) and 2013 Adult Alternative Album of The Year. In her MuchMusic Video Award debut last month, Ryder was nominated for three awards, took home the trophy for Rock / Alternative Video of The Year and went on to perform a stellar live medley of her two hits, “What I Wouldn’t Do” & “Stompa”. She has also enjoyed success prior to the current chart-smashing Harmony with her two previous albums, If Your Memory Serves You Well (2007) and Is it O.K. (2009) achieving Gold selling status. In 2012, her single “Weak In The Knees” also achieved Gold Certification.   SERENA RYDER FAST FACTS: - MuchMusic currently featuring Serena Ryder in one of their coveted “That Much Closer” ID spots.
