St. Vincent Debuts Music Video For “New York”

31 AUGUST 2017 (Toronto, ON) – Today, St. Vincent debuts the music video for “New York” via Loma Vista Recordings/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The video was directed by celebrated visual artist Alex Da Corte, and marks his first time working in the music video format.

"I think Annie's New York is the New York of my dreams-one that is blurry and fractured, dreamy and flat,” says Da Corte. “It is the Toontown to my Hollywood.  It is beautiful but slightly out of reach."

Her first new song in two years, “New York” was released earlier this summer and deemed Best New Track by Pitchfork, “pure breakup gold” by Rolling Stone, and “a lovely devotional about the long, tight hold a place can have on your heart, and self-conception” by the NY Times. In addition to her recent profile in the New Yorker, St. Vincent also discussed the track with Song Exploder noting,  “‘New York’ is really a composite for me – it’s everybody I love in that song, it’s my whole life in a song.” Listen to the full program here.
