STING & SHAGGY COLLABORATE WITH TROPKILLAZ FOR BRAZILIAN-INFLUENCED REMIX OF “DON’T MAKE ME WAIT”

23 FEBRUARY 2018 (Toronto, ON) – Sting and Shaggy add Brazilian flair to latest single with the release of the brand-new “Don’t Make Me Wait” (Tropkillaz Remix), available online now. The Tropkillaz duo Zegon and Laudz blend hip-hop, trap and baile funk in their remix, creating a bass-driven, Brazilian and Jamaican musical fusion. Released earlier this year, Don’t Make Me Wait is the first single to arrive off the collaborative, island-influenced album from Sting and Shaggy, entitled 44/876, available on April 20 via Interscope/A&M Records/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The album captures the duo’s mutual love of Jamaica – its music, the spirit of its people and vibrancy of its culture.

Sting and Shaggy were initially introduced by Martin Kierszenbaum, who is Sting’s manager and Shaggy’s former A&R executive. After Sting heard a new track that Shaggy was working on, they decided to go into the studio together.  Initially, the plan was to record “Don’t Make Me Wait,” but the rhythms, lyrics and melodies flowed readily between these two accomplished musicians and, as a result, more new songs emerged.

Sting and Shaggy wrote and jammed together for a few weeks in New York City, creating music that seamlessly blends Caribbean rhythms—in traditional and modern styles—with pop craftsmanship and rock energy.

The artists were joined in the studio by musicians and writers from Jamaica and New York including Robbie Shakespeare, Dwayne “iLLwayno” Shippy, Shane Hoosong, Machine Gun Funk, Patexx, Tyrantula, as well as Sting’s longtime guitarist Dominic Miller.  The sessions were produced by Sting International, who has previously worked with Shaggy on global smashes such as “Boombastic” and “It Wasn’t Me,” and Executive Produced by Martin Kierszenbaum.

Tropkillaz’s mix of trap, baile funk, Latin, and bass music have made them well known in their native Brazil, as well as Europe, Asia and South America, having performed hundreds of concerts in over 30 countries. They have remixed tracks by Major Lazer, DJ Snake and Justin Bieber, Benny Benassi and Rae Sremmurd.  Their recent co-production with DJ Yuri Martins of Anitta, McZaac and Maejor “Vai Malandra,” is a number one hit on Brazilian pop radio, and has garnered over 70 million plays on Spotify, with over 400,000 plays per day.
