27 OCTOBER 2023 (TORONTO, ON) — GRAMMY-nominated singer and composer Cody Fry has released the official music video for “Fine,” the latest single from his album The End, out now via Decca Records US/Universal Music Canada. The intergalactic video places Fry atop an asteroid, symbolizing his struggle to stay “fine” amidst anxiety. “Fine” features the thoughtful orchestration that Fry’s legions of fans online have come to expect, as he masterfully straddles classical and pop arrangements on the track. Says Fry: “‘Fine’ is the most depressing song I've ever written, 100%. It's an intense one, but luckily, it's only 90 seconds long. The song comes from a pretty serious place, dealing with panic and anxiety attacks, and the way you feel when anxiety is ruling your emotions.”
The song is accompanied by a simple, yet provocative, music video produced by IV Studios – the production and animation team behind Cody’s recent clip for “What If”. In this video, Cody – a spaceman – rides an asteroid towards the earth. It’s a powerful metaphor for the feeling of helplessness that many of us have faced over the last few challenging years.
Composed and arranged entirely by Cody, The End mixes stunning orchestrations with some of his most vulnerable lyrics to date. After his first experiences with panic attacks and anxiety in 2020, Cody had to step back and reflect on his mental health. The End represents the culmination of not only his creative evolution, but also his personal journey so far and exploring themes such as mental health and change as told through the likes of “What If” and “Waltz For Sweatpants.”
After graduating from Belmont University in Nashville, gigs with the likes of Ben Rector and Hunter Hayes, and countless compositions for film, television, technology, video games, and fashion, Cody attracted a devout audience. During 2021, his song “I Hear A Symphony” soared to the forefront of popular culture, surging to unprecedented virality on TikTok. It eventually eclipsed 200 million global streams and counting, hitting #1 on the Billboard Classical Tracks chart and becoming a Certified Gold Single in the U.S. and Canada..
