THE KOOKS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM LISTEN AVAILBLE SEPTEMBER 2

NORTH AMERICAN DATES THIS SUMMER

(TORONTO – 08 May 2014) - The Kooks have announced the release of their new album Listen for September 2 via Astralwerks/ Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. Produced by young hip hop pioneer Inflo and Kooks lead singer/ guitarist Luke Pritchard, it showcases a new direction and sound for the multi-platinum selling UK act that also includes guitarist Hugh Harris, bassist Pete Denton and drummer Alexis Nunez. “To me,” Pritchard says, “this album is about pure expression. Even the way we made the album felt fresh. Rather than us just being a band in a room, playing our guitars with the vocal over the top, which is what we’d always done before, we were really listening to what was going on around us, picking up ideas. The whole thing was much more natural.” The band will be playing selected dates in North America this summer including Toronto and Montreal as well as making appearances at Lollapalooza and Outside Lands music festivals. “Around Town” is the second single from Listen and is another shift away from classic Kooks.
