“Sexiest soundtrack ever…”— US Weekly (Toronto, ON - 21 January 2015) - Today, The Weeknd premiered his music video for “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey),” the first track released from the Fifty Shades of Grey Original Motion Picture Soundtrack which is released on February 10 on Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. Watch the video HERE. Fifty Shades of Grey is the hotly anticipated film adaptation of the bestselling book that has become a global phenomenon. Since its release, the “Fifty Shades” trilogy has been translated into 51 languages worldwide and sold more than 100 million copies in e-book and print—making it one of the biggest and fastest-selling book series ever. Stepping into the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, who have become iconic to millions of readers, are Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. The video showcases the same seductive tone of the film, due in large part to the direction by Fifty Shades of Grey director Sam Taylor-Johnson and a starring role by Johnson. In addition to Taylor-Johnson and Johnson, the film’s cinematographer, Seamus McGarvey, also lent his talents to the shoot. The digital pre-order, which debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes Soundtrack Album chart, is available now and unlocks immediate downloads of “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)” and Sia’s “Salted Wound”. The album features 16 tracks from legends and superstars, such as The Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, Beyoncé and Annie Lennox, as well as new and previously unreleased material from Ellie Goulding, Skylar Grey, and Jessie Ware among others. The soundtrack is available in stores and at all digital retailers beginning February 10, while the Universal Pictures and Focus Features’ film releases in theatres nationwide on February 13. The trailer for the film, which has been viewed more than 100 million times, is now available to view on the official site. Iconic four-time Oscar® nominee Danny Elfman provides the original score for the film, while Dana Sano serves as the music supervisor.
