13 JULY 2016 (Toronto, ON) – Rising singer-songwriter Tor Miller announces the release of his new single “Always” and a new music video for “Surrender”, both off his forthcoming debut album AMERICAN ENGLISH. The album, due out September 30 on Glassnote Records / Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company, is available now for pre-order and will be supported with a headline tour this September. Singled out as one of Nylon’s 2016 ‘10 SXSW Acts Poised To Become The Next Big Thing,’ Tor returns with the powerhouse track and crowd favourite, “Always” (LISTEN HERE). “Always comes from an internal struggle within myself where I was balancing two beliefs. I'm trying to convince myself of making something work that just won't in the end,” said Tor. In addition to “Always”, Tor’s “Surrender” which was play-listed this month by V Magazine and Billboard, receives a dramatic three-minute video treatment that showcases an intense performance backed by grandiose horns, drums and a rich falsetto (WATCH HERE). Tor has had a jam packed 18 months having released his HEADLIGHTS EP, writing and recording his debut album AMERICAN ENGLISH and touring with distinguished artists such as James Bay, George Ezra and Aurora. During this time Tor has gone from gracing club stages as a solo pianist to stage front and center under the glare of spotlights. This invigorated live set showcases Tor’s rawness of expression and captivating vocals in a whole new experience for fans. Originally taught how to play the piano by a retired wedding singer, at eighteen Tor enrolled on the prestigious Clive Davis School of Recorded Music at New York University, developing both his voice and song writing. Signed to Glassnote Records (Phoenix, Mumford & Sons, Childish Gambino, CHVRCHES) in 2014, Tor posted a series of part iPhone recorded demos – just piano and voice online - which quickly helped to introduce this exciting, raw young talent to a wider audience far sooner than he’d anticipated. Tor’s debut EP Headlights was released in January of 2015, followed by the critically received ‘Carter & Cash’ last summer. With Tor’s debut album American English scheduled for September, fans can be sure to expect new music to drop throughout the course of the summer.
