TROYE SIVAN RELEASES NEW SINGLE, “BLOOM”

03 May 2018 (Toronto, ON) – Today, Troye Sivan releases “Bloom”, the new single from his forthcoming album via Capitol Records/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. Coinciding with the release of the new track is the arrival of the accompanying lyric video which was animated by Jason Ebeyer. Watch the official lyric video HERE.

“Bloom” is the follow-up to the new album’s first single, "My My My!". Released in January 2018, the track was the top trending topic worldwide on Twitter for the entire month. Combined global streams of the track now exceed 130 million. The official video, directed by Grant Singer (Lorde, The Weeknd), became the #1 trending clip on YouTube and has upwards of 25 million views.

Pitchfork named “My My My!” as one of the “first great songs” of 2018 and noted, “Sivan is celebrating pure joy, the feeling of being swept up and rendered invincible by new love.” NYLON praised the “self-empowering liberation anthem” and Rolling Stone found it “joyous.” Reviewing the video, NPR Music said, “Troye Sivan cements his image as a gay pop icon.”

Cumulative streams of “The Good Side”, another track from the album, now surpass 22 million worldwide. Sivan made his Saturday Night Live debut as musical guest earlier this year, performing both “My My My!” and “The Good Side”. He also appeared recently on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Sivan’s 2015 debut album, Blue Neighbourhood, topped the iTunes charts in 66 countries and has sold more than two million adjusted albums worldwide. Streams across all platforms exceed one billion while video views have surpassed 500 million. Sivan was also recently featured on Martin Garrix’s 2016 hit single, “There For You”, which is Platinum in Canada.

The New York Times hailed Sivan as a “prototype for tomorrow’s global pop star.” The young Australian artist has appeared on the covers of Rolling Stone, Out, and V Magazine. Associated Press named Blue Neighbourhood as the No. 1 album of 2015. Rolling Stone awarded it four stars and observed, “At its core, Sivan’s soft and honeyed vocals command attention, filled with the kind of heady and unchecked emotions that can only be mustered up by someone at age 20.” Early in his career, TIME named Sivan as one of the most influential teens. Troye’s Blue Neighbourhood trilogy of videos, which chronicled the childhoods of two working-class boys whose romance is stifled by intolerance and abuse, was honoured with a 2016 MTV VMA nomination for breakthrough Long Form Video. The single “Youth” has been certified Platinum in Canada and the U.S.
