UNIVERSAL MUSIC CANADA SIGNS VANCOUVER SYNTH-ROCK DUO
DEBUT ALBUM BLACK TO GOLD SET FOR 2015 RELEASE
16 OCTOBER 2014 (Toronto, ON) – Universal Music Canada (UMC), the country’s leading music company, today announces the signing of Vancouver-bred alternative-electro-dance-rock duo Dear Rouge. Their debut album, Black To Gold, will be released in early 2015. The album’s lead single, I Heard I Had, is presently the #3 most-played song at alternative radio in 2014 (behind only Kongos and Arctic Monkeys). Danielle and Drew McTaggart formed Dear Rouge in 2012 and have since released two EPs to increasingly enthusiastic acclaim. Dear Rouge are winners of the Peak Performance Project, which gave the financial boost to recording the album that would realize their artistic vision. The result is Black To Gold, helmed by Drew McTaggart and Producer/Engineer Ryan Worsley, with further contributions from Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, Mother Mother) and Gavin Brown (Metric, Billy Talent). The team helped develop what has become Dear Rouge’s instantly recognizable blend of punchy guitar hooks and uplifting synth layers underpinning Danielle McTaggart’s straight-from-the-heart vocal delivery. “We are thrilled to be working with Fraser Hill on our new album and alongside the vibrant Universal Music Canada. The team there is incredible and will help us reach our full potential creatively. We could not be more excited to release our debut album with them.” – Drew and Danielle “I’ve been watching this band closely for quite some time, and we're excited that they’ve chosen to call Universal Music Canada their record company home,” says Fraser Hill, Senior Director of A&R at UMC. “The band are making an incredible record and we can’t wait to share it with music lovers across Canada.” Dear Rouge will be touring across Canada this fall, with details of dates below.dearrouge.com
